Farmville Public Library and the Farmville Community Arts Council is welcoming Julia Burns, MD, back to the library for an art exhibition and reception for her latest work.
During A Taste of Farmville in 2017, Dr. Burns shared anddiscussed a series of portraits entitled “Louise and the Lewis Sisters.” These portraits included her mother who was aFarmville native, as well as her six maternal aunts, one of whom was the former Mayor of Farmville, Edna Earle Baker.
Dr. Burns will be sharing her latest series of five acrylic paintings depicting a barn that sat on the property of her grandfather’s (Lewis) homestead overlooking the fields toward Cousin Grimes Lewis’s homeplace. The varying colors and brush strokes make each painting unique while capturing the barn’s and landscape’scharm. Dr. Burns is generously putting these paintings up for sale at $250 each and will donate 100% of the proceeds to the library’s new facility project.
