When I first started painting, I did a series called, BLACK & WHITE & RED ALL OVER. There are seven panels in the series, and they are the height of my daughter, who was six when I started painting.
Linen panels were painted black, white, and, then, red.
In this artwork, I’m expressing my view that abuse is in plain sight- black and white, with blood spilling all around because of our apathy. The collage represents the repetitive cycle of abuse. The frayed, tattered edges are symbolic of how difficult the trajectory of life can be.
